Kat Sklar
I’m a CPA, spreadsheet enthusiast, and fan of helping people find processes that fit THEM. I’m especially excited to work with fellow small business owners, especially if you identify as a creative or ‘not a numbers person’. In addition to traditional coaching, I offer half hour tech support sessions.
My Background
After being a lyricist and professional essayist didn't pan out financially, I took to heart the truism about "death and taxes" and pursued accounting. I loved the teaching and talking about money aspects of being a CPA, but did not love the extreme work hours. With 10+ years of experience, I left public accounting in 2021 to start The Friendly Spreadsheet LLC, and I've been happily teaching spreadsheet, small business owner, and financial skills since. More personally, I have lived a neurologically complicated life; if you're a spoonie and/or neuro-spicy, you're especially welcome here.
Why Work with Me
"You know, that wasn't terrible."
Review from a client after finishing his first three hour coaching package and on his way to buy an additional set of accountability check in sessions.
"This was incredibly helpful!"
Most common feedback after an initial half hour consult; I keep a tally of how often this phrase comes up now; as of April 2024, it's at 11.
Why I Coach
It's profoundly satisfying to help people have "ah ha" moments both with using software and with how they think about their money. It's wild to me that someone ready to change can take their determination paired with 3-6 hours of coaching over a month or two and permanently re-wire their financial life. I love getting to go along for that ride.
