Yesterday, our budgeting couple Jamie and Oscar went to an event their neighborhood holds every year: it’s a bit of a tradition and is always a fun time with food, live music, and great people watching. But, it has a $20 cover charge to get in and try the samples from the restaurants.
Normally, they’d be stressing about this: they’d swipe the card, and walk around enjoying themselves, only to feel the spending hangover the next day. This time, they just covered it with their fun money category and had a great time (made even better by the run-in Oscar had with a purple slushie and spending the rest of the evening walking around in Jamie’s two-sizes-too-small hoodie).
