Credit Card Interest Made Simpler (and Kinder)

It used to be that YNABers who couldn't pay off their credit card interest right away would see, month after month, an overspent interest category. Not helpful. Now, credit card interest will no longer show in your plan as if it were simply an underfunded spending category like groceries.

Tap your Credit Card Payment Category details to see any transactions related to interest and what that card cost you in interest this month. There, you'll also be nudged to set up a target to pay off the interest.

When categorizing a transaction, simply select Credit Card Interest so that the credit card interest stays out of your spending plan. We've already heard from YNABers that this streamlines the process of tracking credit card interest and eliminates guilt around not paying off the balance in full each month.

Here's what else has changed in YNAB since our last post:

  • [iOS] | Fixed a bug where a transfer's cleared status wouldn't update because we couldn't find its counterpart transaction.
  • [Android] | We fixed a crash that could happen when searching transactions with filters including >=0.
  • [Web] | Account registers now have a "Last Month" date-range preset in View Options, so you can filter to the previous calendar month with one click.
